This Quick Transmigration Experience Is A Bit Sweet Chapter 01

Zong Yuan placed a cigarette in his mouth and hid in a corner to have a few puffs before class began. In his mind he recalled of 0046 reading a script to him, “Did you hear me?”

Zong Yuan slowly puffed out a cloud of smoke, “I’m not an idiot.”

With two minutes left before class starts, he took a stroll down the hallway to fume out the smoke smell that lingered on him. He stood in front of the grade 12 Class 1 door and waited for the teacher to bring him in.

Mr. Jiang rushed over and when he saw Zong Yuan, he was caught by surprise, “Go in, go in.”

Zong Yuan followed him into the class and all of the students fixed their gazes onto him. Zong Yuan looked up and asked 0046, “Which one is Fu Xin?”

0046 replied, “The one sitting next to the trash bin.” Next to the trash bin sat a thin young man. The corner of the room was small and cramped; it was not hard to imagine what kind of treatment he received in this class. Then again, trying to jump of the roof the day before the highschool examinations was not something done by a person living a great life.
Zong Yuan spoke with practiced ease, “Hello everyone, I’m Zong Yuan. The word “Zong” as in Zong Yuan and “yuan” as in Zong Yuan.” Sounds of laughter bursted out from a few students. Zong Yuan continued to smile brightly, “As for myself, I have average grades, average looks. I’ll rely on everyone to look out for me.”

This wasn’t modesty, this was an outright lie.

A few girls were already acting like deers in headlights, and were blushing. Zong Yuan had the perfect face of a light novel male protagonist or the face girls would imagine of when dreaming about their first loves.

Fu Xin was the complete opposite.

Zong Yuan interacted with his classmates absentmindedly. He was multitasking when speaking with 0046, “What where you saying again? Who was a straw?”

“Of course you weren’t listening carefully,” 0046 resigned and repeated his words again.

Fu Xin’s parents have divorced already. He grew up being beat up by his alcoholic father. He also wasn’t fed properly so he ended up begging for food and leftovers on the streets. Things were more devestating later on. He developed a crush on the one of the “brains” of the class, Zhang Zhi’liang. After someone found his diary, he became the main bully victim in the class. Anybody could go up to him and step on him or give a kick or two. As for Zhang Zhi’liang, he was the last straw that broke the camel’s back. He used a bit of his gentleness to trick him, and that pushed Fu Xin into the depths of hell. How morally sick was he to think that it was fun to do. 0046 had a quick look at Fu Xin and sighed, “He’s all depressed and gloomy, good luck on the job. Zong Yuan, let Fu Xin lead a nice and comfortable life. After the completion of your first mission, your brother’s illness can be pushed back for another three years.”

Zong Yuan grunted and he moved his fingers around in the pockets of his school jacket. The girls sitting in the front row had their eyes glued on him, thinking about how impossible it was for someone to look so good and handsome wearing their school uniform. Mr. Jiang grinned, revealing his yellowed teeth, “Zong Yuan, look around and decide where you want to sit.”Zong Yuan raised his brows and looked around, he casually pointed his fingers, “There.”

Next to Fu Xin.

He appeared like he was not at all concerned whether the place was or wasn’t dirty and messy. 0046 waved a flag for support, “Get ready, Fu Xin. We’re coming.” His classmates looked in the direction he pointed at. A few people’s facial expression changed and they looked like they just ate a cockroach. Even with this many people staring, the person sitting in the corner didn’t even raise his head. It was as if he didn’t realize what was going on. The transfer student had the worst luck; there were only two empty seats left. And on top of that, he chose to sit with the disgusting Fu Xin. Eight lives worth of bad luck must have crashed down on him. The class monitor, He Xiu’xiu, stood up and smiled sweetly, “Classmate Zong Yuan, that spot is far away from the blackboard, how about you sit behind me.” There was an empty seat behind her. Zong Yuan was standing there with a slouchy poor posture and he gave her a small and handsome smile, “Thanks pretty girl, but I like sitting next to the trash bin.” Being referred as “pretty girl” by the transfer student in front of the whole class made her blush. She sat back down without a hint of anger from the rejection.

“Hahaha, ‘like sitting next to the trash bin’, that’s so funny.”

“So envious of the class president.” He Xiu’xiu’ facial expression appeared even more coy. Zong Yuan also laughed. 0046 whispered into his ears, “How could one look so pretty but be so harsh.” Zong Yuan ignored it, and carried his bag to the last row of seats. When he walked, he carried an air of suaveness. “Hey student, ” Zong Yuan threw his bag onto the table, “do you have tissue paper.”Fu Xin looked up at him; his eyes were a dark black. He silently pulled out a few sheets of tissue from his pocket and placed them in the corner of Zong Yuan’s table. His hands didn’t even make contact with Zong Yuan’s table. Zong Yuan picked it up and smiled, “Thanks.” Fu Xin didn’t make a sound. From the corner of his eye, he watched the transfer student wipe down his chair and drawer. He hid his scar covered hands and lowered his eyes. Mr. Jiang stood in front of the class waiting and only began his lesson after Zong Yuan took his time to finish tidying up his seat.

Young people have the tendency to over think. Mr. Jiang’s behavior made it obvious to everyone that they should be careful to not mess with Zong Yuan.
Zong Yuan lazily flipped through the new textbook on his hand. The moment the teacher started talking, he could feel the top and bottom of his eyelids stick together. 0046 anticipated this, “Zong Yuan.” Zong Yuan fought to open one of his eyes and looked at his desk mate, “Hey, lend me a pen.” Fu Xin quietly passed him a pen. Even with his eyes half closed, the transfer student was still dispiritely handsome. Fu Xin stole a quick glance at him and shifted closer towards the wall again. It was as if Zong Yuan wasn’t a person but was actually a human eating wolf instead. His avoidance actually piqued Zong Yuan’s attention. He rested his cheek on his hand and asked, “Hey, what’s your name.”

Fu Xin stayed quiet momentarily. His body emitted an aura of alertness and his fingers were wrapped around in the folds on his clothing, “Fu Xin.” His voice was small and hoarse, it was as if he hasn’t spoken for days.

“Oh, ” his smile was beaming, “I’m Zong Yuan, nice to meet you.” The tip of Fu Xin’s nose moved slightly; he had a keen sense of smell. At this perfect distance, he could smell the faint smell of smoke coming from the transfer student. He moved his eyes and unconsciously looked at Zhang Zhi’liang who was sitting near the window in the fourth row. Zong Yuan looked over in the same direction. Zhang Zhi’liang was sitting next to He Xiu’xiu. As if he sensed something, Zhang Zhi’liang turned his head back. He had the face of a typical scholarly student; even at such a young age, he looked very personable. Zong Yuan pulled his eyelids open and looked away, disinterested. He saw Fu Xin abruptly lower his head down, as if he was scared Zhang Zhi’liang would see him. Zong Yuan peered at his notebook, in the upper left corner was a drawing of an unknown object. He curled up his lips to compliment him, “That drawing ain’t bad.” He actually had no idea what the drawing was of. It had four hooves attached to extremely short legs.  There were two hair clip like objects on its head and its face was as round as a basin. He tentatively decided it was a pig. Fu Xin looked down at the drawing, “Thanks.”

Zong Yuan pushed further down this topic, “You like drawing.

“Fu Xin raised his head and finally made eye contact with Zong Yuan. He replied back seriously, “Drawing is the only thing I’m good at.

“Zong Yuan paused, “….”.

0046 paused too, “….”.

The two of them racked their brains while looking at the drawing as they were wary of giving the wrong compliment. “The drawing is quite abstract.”
Fu Xin moved his dried cracked mouth, “It’s just a random drawing of a horse.”
That’s a freaking horse.

Zong Yuan’s eyebrow twitched. He ignored his inner conscience and continued, “It looks really nice.”
He focused his eyes intently because staring can sometimes give the impression of being passionate. Fu Xin nodded his head and retreated back to the corner. He was like a turtle that has retreated back into his shell right after poking out his head for a bit.

After the class bell rang, quite a few people looked in the direction that Zong Yuan was at. Zong Yuan laid his upper body on top of his table and it was hard to tell if he was sleeping or just resting. It didn’t seem appropriate to disturb him.

He Xiu’xiu’s best friend sat in front of her so she had to turn around to talk to her, “Xiu’xiu, just get to know him.”

He Xiu’xiu glanced in the direction of Zong Yuan, and smiled shyly, “He’s sleeping, it’s not a good time to.”

Zhang Zhi’liang looked at her and then scanned around the room. Majority of the people were starring at the back of the room. Hiss expression darkened but quickly returned back to normal. He took the chance to also look at Fu Xin, who was sitting next to Zong Yuan, and he frowned. When Fu Xin looked back at him, he let out his standard gentle smile. Fu Xin abruptly looked away. His movement produced a slight breeze that brushed against the stray hairs near Zong Yuan’s ears. Fu Xin looked at him cautiously, and to his surprise, he noticed Zong Yuan had a small black earring pieced to his ear. The light reflected off the black diamond and shone sharply into Fu Xin’s eyes. The pairing of the earring and his polished face was enough to make the butterflies flutter in his stomach. Fu Xin picked up his pen and randomly doodled on a blank piece of white paper. Guys wear earrings too, huh.

Zong Yuan was awakened by the school bell. He sat back up and casually tousled his hair with his hand. During the time before the teacher arrived, the boy in front of him turned around and started introducing himself, “I’m Yang Fan, your attitude is right up my alley, let’s be friends.”

Zong Yuan smiled lazily. Even the corners of his mouth would curl the same way as a rich person would when they felt disinterested, “Sure.”
Yang’fan’s desk buddy also wanted to join in so he also turned his head around, but when he realized he was about to touch Fu Xin’s table, his face distorted into anger and disgust. He glared harshly at Fu Xin and opened his mouth but after taking a quick glance at Zong Yuan, he patted his clothing and didn’t say anything.

Fu Xin’s face was unperturbed since this was the norm for him. He pulled his table back a bit. Zong Yuan shifted his chair and tilted it so that the chair was on standing on only its two back legs. He looked Yang Fan’s desk buddy and lightly asked “What were you about to say?”

Fu Xin and Yang Fan’s desk buddy froze. Yang Fan intervened, “Hahaha, nothing, nothing.”

Zong Yuan glanced at the one that was too scared to speak, he smiled mischievously and joked, “I thought you were about to curse someone.”

He wasn’t just planning to curse someone.

0046 held open a little notebook that had a clearly written record of all the insults directed at Fu Xin. This desk buddy of Yang Fan was responsible for seven to eight pages of evil curses. No matter who looked at these insults, no one would believe that it came out of the mouth of a high school student. Yang Fan wanted to say something else but the math teacher has arrived already so he had no choice but to turn his head back. Fu Xin pulled out a math textbook and was at a loss of words. Zong Yuan stated at the title that was printed largely on the front cover, he could feel the veins on his temple enlarging. He blurted out, “Math.”

Fu Xin quietly murmured back, “Yeah.”
