This Quick Transmigration Experience Is A Bit Sweet Chapter 02

Zong Yuan’s logical reasoning was very good, but the fearless Zong Yuan who wasn’t afraid of the sky and earth, was afraid of only two things in life. One of them was mathematics; it was nothing but bunch of useless and frustrating calculations.

The math formula was clear to him and his solution strategy was straightforward. In fact, he knew how to tackle any type of questions, yet he would still make mistakes when solving children’s problems like 100×5-49. Sometimes 0046 doubts whether he has the mental capability to even do arithmetic calculations. This resulted in his answers being correct at the beginning but always wrong near the end.

Fu Xin copied down the sample questions. He looked at Zong Yuan— he had his hands in his pockets and his mouth pursed. He decided to ask, “You don’t write notes down?”

Zong Yuan, “Ah.”

He pulled his hand out to grab a random notebook and perfunctorily wrote the words down. His handwriting was very exuberant and lively.

Up until the bell rang to signal the ending of this class, Zong Yuan had only written down the topic’s name in his notebook.

He Xiu’xiu’s best friend pulled He Xiu’xiu over, “Classmate Zong Yuan, my name is Wang Li, this is our class monitor. The class monitor has something to say to you.”

He Xiu’xiu’s delicate face was blushing, “Classmate Zong Yuan, I am the class monitor. If you encounter anything you don’t understand, you can ask me.”

Zong Yuan leaned on his chair and smiled at them, making the young girl’s cheeks flush with every gesture. “The class monitor is really enthusiastic to help others.”

Fu Xin fixed his gaze on the book while marking a long line using the pen in his hand.

He Xiu’xiu smiled embarrassedly.

Zhang Zhi’liang walked over from behind him and kept on a friendly smile. He had fair skin, he wasn’t tall nor short, and he was thin. He had the aura of a young male student protagonist. “Hello student Zong Yuan. My name is Zhang Zhi’liang, I’m the academic monitor of our class. You have mentioned that your grades are average, so you can ask me any questions if you encounter any.”

Zong Yuan glanced at him, and the slim pen whirled around obediently between his bony fingers, “Thank you, academic monitor, you have been working hard.”

Zhang Zhi’liang’s smile remained unchanged. He looked in Fu Xin’s direction but his view was completely blocked since Zong Yuan was leaning forward. All he could see was Zong Yuan’s face.

His eyes turned ever so slightly cold.

Fu Xin was blocked by Zong Yuan’s sturdy back, and he was sandwich between Zong Yuan and the corner of the wall. All he saw was the black back of Zong Yuan’s head.

Since someone has already taken the initiative to strike up a conversation, the whole class was ready to make a move. The girls were still holding back, but the boys were already smiling around Zong Yuan.

Zong Yuan listened with a smile. He rested his chin on his folded hands, and a corner of the watch on his wrist peeped out. A boy who recognized it exclaimed, “Dang, I know this watch, it costs 30,000 or 40,000 yuan.”

The people around grew silent for a bit. Yang Fan took a serious look at it and pitched in, “I saw this in the magazine the other day, it was this exact watch. My dad even wanted to buy one.” Yang Fan kept the next line to himself, ‘but he didn’t buy it because he was stingy’.

Zong Yuan casually spoke, “Its just cheap stuff, if your dad plans to buy it, I wouldn’t recommend getting this one. I just wear it around for fun.”

Yang Fan smiled awkwardly, “My family is probably unwilling to spend that much money buying it.”

Zong Yuan raised his eyebrows and suddenly smiled, “Was what I said a bit infuriating? I won’t be sacked and beaten up, will I?”

The atmosphere became more harmonious in that second and the people around laughed.

When Fu Xin glanced at him, it seemed like Zong Yuan noticed it because he tilted his head slightly and blinked mischievously at Fu Xin.

Fu Xin acted like he saw something disgusting, and turned his head away instantly.

“….”Zong Yuan asked 0046 with a gloomy face, “Wasn’t it said that people of this age can be friends if you ignite a spark in them?”

0046 “Who the hell told you that.”

Zhang Zhi’liang was normally well received and favored by everyone but now he was pushed to the outermost circle of the crowd. The corners of his mouth twitched, and he immediately supported He Xiu’xiu when he saw that she staggered over to his area, “Are you alright?”

He Xiu’xiu her waist-long hair while watching the group of people, “Classmate Zong Yuan is really well-liked by everyone.”

The people naturally formed a semicircle around Zong Yuan and left the corner Fu Xin was at empty since nobody was willing to even stand near him.

After Zong Yuan sent the group of people away, he took out two mints from his pocket. He stuffed one into his mouth, and forced Fu Xin to take the other one. “It’s delicious, it’s very good for waking up the brain.”

Fu Xin looked at Zong Yuan, his face was so confident that he looked like he was about to pat  his chest while boasting about the mint’s quality. “Thank you”, he hesitantly peeled open the candy and placed it into his mouth. His delicate facial features suddenly twisted up.

Produced by 0046— guaranteed quality.

The spiciness of the mint was enough to make one burst out in tears. This was tailor-made for Zong Yuan’s heavy taste palette.

Watching Fu Xin’s expression change, Zong Yuan raised his eyebrows, “Are you for real, is it that bad.”

Fu Xin shook his head, enduring the spiciness that shot up through his nose, “It’s delicious, thank you.”

“You’re welcome.” He seemed to know how to get close to Fu Xin now. He took out a bag of mints from his bag and proudly handed them over to Fu Xin, “You can have all of them.”

Fu Xin paused, his temples were cold and painful, and spoke with a stiffened voice, “You don’t have to do that.”

Zong Yuan’s mouthful of white teeth glistened, “It’s okay, take it.”

Fu Xin took the mint, and this half or one kilogram weight made him realize that his life could not endure this weight. Zong Yuan twisted his eyebrows, “Surely enough, growing up in that kind of household could not provide him with enough nutrition to even lift the bag of candy.”

0046 nodded and chewed on the candy loudly while looking at Fu Xin sympathetically.

After school ended in the afternoon, Lao Jiang came over and spoke a whole bunch to Zong Yuan, with only one central idea, “Are you going to the self-study sessions at night?”

Zong’yuan sat on the stool like a boss and talked to Mr. Jiang, “I’m going.”

Yang Fan sat in the front and watched them from the corner of his eyes. Having money really makes a difference; they don’t have to stand submissively when talking to the head teacher.

Mr. Jiang glanced at Fu Xin, “Fu Xin, change your sitting spot.”

Fu Xin put down his pen and glanced at Mr. Jiang with dark eyes. With a voice not too loud nor quiet, “Teacher, where do you want me to move to?”

There was no unhappy emotion in his eyes, as if he had expected it, but Mr. Jiang looked away in embarrassment. He looked around the class and there was no place for him to sit.

Zong Yuan placed Fu Xin’s pen on his own desk, “Teacher, why are you making Fu Xin switch positions? Are you worried that I’m going to drag down good students?”

Mr. Jiang laughed hastily, “What do you mean.”

Fu Xin curled his fingers slightly and watched Mr. Jiang leave the classroom from the back door. Zong Yuan snorted slightly and looked at Fu Xin, “If you don’t want to change seats then just say no. Then again, do you want to sit with me?”

Fu Xin’s gaze quickly searched his face. He opened his mouth but before he could speak, Zong Yuan nodded to himself. His slender fingers played with the stray hairs in the corner of his forehead, “I’m speaking nonsense, why wouldn’t you want to sit with me.”

He was joking, but Fu Xin nodded very slowly. Zong Yuan became interested and took out a piece of paper for him, “Fu Xin, draw me a picture. I have such a handsome face, its necessary that a master artist to draw it down and frame it up.”

Fu Xin took the paper, and his black eyes flickered, speaking very earnestly, “I will do my best to draw you.”

He didn’t even refute being called “master”.

Zong Yuan was amused, “Can you let me have a look at your previous paintings?”

Fu Xin’s always carried his drawings with him. Ever since the time his diary was maliciously exposed to others, his small, palm-sized book was with him wherever he went.

He hesitated, but he still took out his own little notebook. It had a black leather cover and high-quality white paper inside. Zong Yuan can feel the warmth of the book in his hands. The quality of it was countless times better than those notebooks Fu Xin used in class.

Fu Xin watched Zong Yuan holding his notebook, frowning, “Be careful.”

Zong Yuan was holding it like an ancestral artifact and then he suddenly remembered something, “I am the first person to view the master’s artworks”

Xin paused, “The first one.”

Zongyuan was also the first person to talk to him and touch his things after that happened.

He had a good temper and gave him sweets.

He is such a good person.

Zong “Nice Guy” Yuan turned to the first page. 0046 had taken out his notebook, and planned to analyze Fu Xin from the drawing. But when he opened it, the two of them…were dumbfounded.

Zong Yuan looked at this painting. It looked like a flower, but it had a pair of eyes. The lines were continuously undulating. Trying to view it from an abstract perspective made it seem very meaningful. Zong Yuan coughed a bit and gave the spotlight up 0046, “You say it, you say it.”

0046 cautiously tested the waters, “A large flower with a tail.”

Zong Yuan shook his head rigorously, “It has eyes though.”

Fu Xin took out a pen to draw Zong Yuan. Zong Yuan hesitated for a long time, but still asked him, “Fu Xin, what do you think of your own drawing?”

Fu Xin showed a rare smile when he heard this, he nodded reservedly, “Not bad.”

He was much more energetic than he was in the morning. Zong Yuan felt that he needed to receive some encouragement. He nodded affirmatively, “It isn’t just ‘not bad’, it is very good.”

While 0046 was still studying the first drawing, Fu Xin was considerate enough to reveal the answer himself. He was a little embarrassed, “It was drawn a long time ago; it’s a turtle.”

Oh, it’s a turtle.

Zong Yuan and 0046 played a guessing game while looking through the drawings one by one.  The two of them were the happiest ones in the whole class. Fu Xin glanced at Zong Yuan and drew the next line, then glanced again, and then drew another stroke. He kept an expression so serious that it was like he was working on an academic report.

0046 accidentally stole a glance, “Zong Yuan, do you know *Ru’hua?”

Zong Yuan made a contempt face, “You’d think just anyone is worthy of being known by me?”

0046 felt gratified, “Good, it’s good that you don’t know.”

By the end of the first period of the self-study session, Fu Xin still wasn’t finished with the drawing. He hid the drawing under his textbooks so Zong Yuan couldn’t have a single peek. He stood up disappointedly and planned to go to the washroom.

A few people followed after him, “Let’s go to the bathroom together, Zong Yuan.”

There are washrooms on every floor level. However, there were always fewer people in male washrooms than female washrooms.

Zong Yuan pulled down his zipper and began to release. The guys, whose name he doesn’t remember, around him glanced at each other and started rambling, “So you must not sit with him. I feel sick just thinking about that he likes guys. I can’t even imagine what would happen if you go near him.”

Zong Yuan finished up without changing his facial expression, and interrupted the guy who was talking excitedly, “You’re a man, you don’t  like men, do you?”

The boy was taken aback, “Of course I don’t like men.”

Zong Yuan tugged on his pants, closed the zipper and turned to look at the boy. He sneered, “Then why are you staring at my member?”

The boy’s tanned face suddenly turned flush.

Translator’s note:

*Ru’hua (lit. trans. flower like) is a female character from Stephen Chow’s movies that is played by a male actor. “She” is known to be very ugly and is always picking “her” nose. Here’s one of the many iconic pictures of Ru’hua.
