This Quick Transmigration Experience Is A Bit Sweet Chapter 06

As the days went by, Zong Yuan became more and more popular among the students.

His desk drawer was bursting with so many love letters that a pile would fall out at a slight touch. Fu Xin watched Zong Yuan gather all of the love letters and throw them into the trash without a hint of hesitation.

Fu Xin rubbed his palms, “You’re not going to look at them?”

Zong Yuan rubbed his forehead because he had a headache. “If I read each and every one, I wouldn’t be able to listen to class anymore.”

Fu Xin looked at his drawer and saw that there was one love letter that was left behind so he reached inside to grab it. Under Zong Yuan’s observation, he tossed the pink letter into the trash. “It’s important to be fair and square.”

Zong Yuan’s eyes twitched, this idiom can be used like that…?

The teacher stood in front of the classroom teaching but the history lesson he taught sent the students to sleep. Zong Yuan looked at Fu Xin. “Fu Xin,” Zong Yuan said as he pointed at his own hair, “you shouldn’t have that hairstyle.”

Fu Xin looked at his head of short layered hair, “What style suits me then?”

Zong Yuan exerted force to shift his chair closer to Fu Xin and he placed his left hand on Fu Xin’s chin to keep him from moving. Without caring to be polite, he used his right hand to lift up his slightly long hair and reveal Fu Xin’s entire face.

Zong Yuan raised the corner of his mouth and rotated Fu Xin’s face left and right with satisfaction. He put on a cheeky smile, “Not bad looking.”

Fu Xin stared at his raised mouth corners and tugged on Zong Yuan’s wrist. He spoke in a low voice, “Pay attention to class.”

Zong Yuan raised one of his brows but before he could say anything, the teacher called his name. The teacher’s wrinkled beardy face made a look of dissatisfaction. “What are you doing? Come, answer this question.”

Zong Yuan lazily stood up, “Teacher, I choose C.”

“…” Fu Xin pointed at the question, “It’s a fill-in-the-blank question.”

Today was Friday so there wasn’t a self-study session in the evening. Zong Yuan smoked while he patiently waited for Fu Xin to pack up his belongings. The smoke formed hazy clouds all around him. Quite a few people walked past him, and there were always a lot of people that had their gazes fixed on him.

A beautiful girl with light makeup on walked through the front door. “Is Student Zong Yuan here?”

A person in the front pointed to the back, “Over there in the last row.”

Zong Yuan heard his name so he raised his head up to look and he saw a pretty girl walk in his direction with a letter in her hand. She carried a fragrance that emanated outwards for miles.

A few people that intended to leave decided to put their bags back down so they can watch the drama that was about to unfold.

Zong Yuan sat calmly while smoking and watched the girl walk up to him. “Student Zong Yuan! I l like you, please be my boyfriend!”

The tip of Fu Xin’s nose moved; her perfume irritated his nose and made him sneeze several times.

Zong Yuan sighed, “You made my deskmate sneeze.”

Her smiling face stiffened.

Fu Xin slung on his packed up school bag and stood at the back door waiting for him. His dark black eyes stared at him without even blinking.

Zong Yuan absentmindedly replied back, “I don’t like your type.”

“…” The love letter in her hands was almost shoved right into Zong Yuan’s face. “You haven’t tried yet so how do you know if you like my type or not.”

“Hmm?” Zong Yuan smiled with rumination and nodded his head in agreement, “you do have a point.”

Fu Xin tightly clenched the hand that was holding his bag and quietly watched Zong Yuan.

The smile on Zong Yuan’s face vanished, “Little sister, focus on your studies, are you even an adult yet?”

Ba-dum ba-dum

The girl threw the letter at Zong Yuan and left angrily. The surroundings went quiet for a few minutes but it didn’t take long for it to become rowdy again. Zong Yuan picked up the letter but before he did anything, Fu Xin grabbed the letter out of his hands and said, “Let’s go.”

Zong Yuan stood up and rubbed his chin, “Was the rejection too harsh?”

Fu Xin walked beside Zong Yuan and all he could smell was the scent of his body. The smell became more familiar as the days went by. He lowered his eyes and replied, “Not harsh.”

Zong Yuan chuckled as he wrapped his arm around Fu Xin’s shoulders. He leaned in closer to his ear and said, “What an obedient child.”

Fu Xin’s heart pounded so hard he felt it become tingly and numb.

He carried this tingly sensation in his heart the whole entire way home. The door to his house was unlocked. He came back to his senses and opened the door. A drunk man was flipping through stuff everywhere. When he heard the commotion Fu Xin made, he turned his head over. “You little rascal! Where’s the money? Gimme money!”

Fu Xin quietly walked through the entrance and pulled a metal box out from underneath the bed. Fu Xin’s dad hugged onto the box like a hungry tiger pouncing on a wolf. He opened it and discovered that there were only loose coins and a few dollar bills. With warped emotions he yelled out, “You messing with me?!”

Fu Xin replied back, emotionless, “That’s all the money in the house.”

Fu Xin’s dad slammed the box onto the floor, and anxiously paced back and forth. He set his eyes on Fu Xin’s school bag and roughly snatched the bag away. Fu Xin calmly watched him flip through his bag and Fu Xin reached his hand to touch his school jacket’s pocket.

Fu Xin’s dad noticed his hand movement and smiled coldly. “Hiding something? You rascal! How ungrateful you are! Give it over.”

Fu Xin pushed his dad’s hand, “Go away!”

He fiercely glared at his dad and he made an expression that seemed like his Achilles heels were struck. “Don’t f*cking touch me!”

He pulled the palm-sized sketchbook out of his pocket, “Look! There’s no money!” Fu Xin’s dad watched him with red burning eyes. Fu Xin also looked at him while he protected his book. He looked like a wolf that was ready to mangle a person to death.

A neighbor’s voice could be heard from the outside, “Anybody at home? Lower your volume.”

Fu Xin’s dad took in a few deep breaths. After he collected the money from the metal box, he slammed the door and left.

Silence returned back to the tiny house.

Fu Xin leaned against the wall and sat down slowly. The house that was once tidy was now messy. He hugged his knees and buried his face into his legs. When he raised his face back up again, his face was calm.

He flipped open his sketchbook and on the last page was a round circle drawn with cigarette ashes.

It was drawn by Zong Yuan.

Fu Xin leaned in to smell it and the familiar smoky aroma enveloped itself around his nose. It was as if Zong Yuan was right beside him.

Zong Yuan furrowed his eyebrows and suddenly sat up on his bed when he jolted awake.

0046 was startled, “What’s wrong? Nightmare?”

Zong Yuan could feel the blood pulsing in temples, “I keep feeling like I forgot something.”

0046, “What could it be?… Shit!”

Zong Yuan, “You remembered?”

0046 was so anxious, it spun in circles, “Shit, shit, shit! Today! Fu Xin! On the streets! Buying groceries! He was eaten up!”

Before it finished speaking, Zong Yuan put his shoes on with a cold expression on face. He grabbed his jacket and hurried out of the apartment.

Damn it!

After Fu Xin finished tidying up the house, he took a plastic bottle out from the bottom of the jam-packed washroom cabinet. The inside of the bottle was filled with coins. He poured out a few coins, and brought garbage with him to the market to buy groceries.

Zong Yuan rode his motorcycle with a full helmet on, “Where?”

0046 acted as his GPS. Zong Yuan drove as fast as crashing lightning and travelling wind. He did not care about his own safety and charged into the road traffic.

0046 was frightened, “Zong Yuan, be more careful.”

A ten plus minute trip was forcibly compressed into just a few minutes. Zong Yuan placed his helmet on his motorcycle and his long legs created wind as he moved. With a sullen face, he hustled over to the alley where the incident occurred.

There was no one in the alley.

“F*ck,” feeling fretful, Zong Yuan violently kicked the wall. “Where the f*ck is he!”

He looked murderous and his rage was erupting. 0046 stuttered, “Let…let me check.”

As soon as it finished speaking, there was a sound of jumbled footsteps that came from the outside. Fu Xin was sprinting forward and he looked behind him as he ran but then his shoulders were violently grabbed by two hands.

Fu Xin’s breathing stopped, and a familiar voice rang in his ear, “Fu Xin, it’s me.”

It was Zong Yuan!

Fu Xin pulled onto him and felt his heart rapidly sink to the bottom of the sea, “Run!”

Zong Yuan and 0046 let out a sigh of relief together, Zong Yuan smiled disdainfully, “Run my butt! I came here to teach them a lesson!”

He pulled Fu Xin behind him, “Stay on the side.”

After the few gangsters that were chasing Fu Xin ran into the alley, they saw Zong Yuan and he looked like he was waiting there for a long time already.

Zong Yuan looked at them and grinned. He enunciated his words clearly, “Brothers, you have finally arrived.”

The gangsters suddenly had a bad premonition.

The sound of a few painful grunts travelled out of the alley. A few minutes later, Zong Yuan pulled Fu Xin along with him and leisurely walked out of the alley. He felt refreshed.

Fu Xin suddenly tugged on Zong Yuan and said, “Wait.”

He ran back into the alley. He squatted next to the gang leader and took out a tiny object from his own pocket. The gang leader pried his eyes open to have a look but his entire body shook when he saw that the tiny object Fu Xin held in his hand was a small box cutter.

“It was He Xiu’xiu! She told us to come!”

Fu Xin moved the small blade that was pressed against the gang leader’s face to the gang leader’s eyes, and thought for a while, “Go tell her that I was with Zong Yuan so you didn’t make a move on me.” The leader closed his eyes and nodded urgently.

When Fu Xin came out of the alley, Zong Yuan was kicking some rocks out of boredom. “Something wrong?”

Fu Xin, “I asked him who instructed them to do this.”

Zong Yuan snorted and looked at him up and down, “With shrimpy arms and legs like yours, how could you interrogate him? Stay by my side obediently and focus on your studies; I will take care of the rest.”

He stretched out a hand lazily, “Give it to me.”

Fu Xin obediently gave him the utility knife that was in his pocket.

Zong Yuan glanced at it and casually tossed it into his own pocket. He grinned, “Little rascal.”

His deep voice was pleasing to the ear, and there was an indescribable gentleness to it. Although he spoke the same exact words as Fu Xin’s dad did, Fu Xin weakly drowned and wallowed within his words.

Fu Xin moved his fingers and asked him in a low voice, “How did you know that I was here.”

Zong Yuan was walking in front of him and he turned his head when he heard his question. He raised one of his eyebrows with a faint unnoticeable smile. “Because the two of us,” he tapped on Fu Xin’s heart and smiled wickedly, “are connected by our hearts.”

It felt like the place he tapped came alive; it beated more and more quickly on its own, as if it was eager to jump out of his chest so that it could meet the person who just tapped it.

Fu Xin’s response lagged behind and he looked up at him blankly. Zong Yuan smirked, and he used his slender fingers to gently raise Fu Xin’s chin. The corners of his mouth curled up, “Why?”

“Have you been seduced by me?”

Fu Xin pulled away his hand and licked his dried lips. He looked down towards the lower right corner and said, “No.”

Zong Yuan sighed and joked, “It seems like I’m not charming enough.” He hooked his arm around Fu Xin, “Stay at my house tonight.”

Fu Xin was nervous, “Why?”

“There is no ‘why’,” Zong Yuan’s hand knocked on Fu Xin’s head, “Be obedient, ‘kay?”

He looked at the nearby veggie market, “Do you know how to cook?”

Fu Xin nodded and frowned. “You haven’t eaten yet?”

Zong Yuan said, “Nope. Don’t tell me that you did already?”

Fu Xin shook his head.

Zong Yuan was excited, “It looks like it is destined. Let’s go then. Fu Xin, let me have a taste of your cooking. What if you’re able to make your way to my heart through my stomach?”

He casually teased Fu Xin, "Then I will be yours."
