Chapter 37: The Merman's Present

The merman stopped at the shoreline. The heavy air that belonged to the sea surged forward. It quietly stared at Zong Yuan with the gaze of a wild animal. This kind of gaze could easily cause the deepest part of the human soul to tremble with fear.

Zong Yuan's scalp turned numb and his mind was blank. What is this? 

He took a step back and he picked up the wooden torch that had some tiny flames remaining from the ground. "A merman?"

The merman stayed upright. The moonlight peeking out from the grey clouds shone onto its body, illuminating its curly hair that was as dense as seaweed and its black eyes that were as dark as the deepest part of the sea. 

It focused all of its attention onto Zong Yuan, and that sensation of being secretly watched with a malicious intent came forward again. 

Zong Yuan pinched his thigh hard and then he moved his gaze to its lower body. 

A fish's tail. A gigantic strong fish tail. 

….A fish tail that had scales.

Zong Yuan, "....."

F*ck!

His entire body stiffened. The merman was less than ten meters away from him. He took two steps back and he moved his gaze away while having a horrible expression on his face, "Scram back into the sea!"

In reality, his hands were shaking as he held the wooden stick up.

He wasn’t scared of this creature, but he was scared of its fish tail.

The merman cocked its head to the side and a deep screech came from its throat.

Zong Yuan's mind was blank, and suddenly a strong desire to walk forward emerged in his mind. He was controlled by this desire. He placed the wooden stick down onto the ground, and he moved closer to the merman one step at a time. 

0046 shouted out loudly, “Zong Yuan!”  

Zong Yuan suddenly woke up and he came back to his senses. He realized that he had walked to the front of the merman, and was less than one meter away from it. 

The smell of blood and seaweed rushed into his nose. 

Zong Yuan felt nauseated. He fiercely closed his eyes shut. His feet were glued to the ground. Even though doing this was very dangerous, he didn’t have the willpower to look at this merman. 

The facial features of the merman was depp and intricate. It was a mythical creatures that was carefully created by the ocean. However, after long periods of battling and killing in the water, it did not have a single breath of gentleness and empathy. It only knew about fighting, snatching, attacking and greedy desires.  

The tide suddenly rose up, and in just a moment’s time, the water had covered Zong Yuan’s feet. 

Zong Yuan’s eyelids twitched but he still kept his eyes shut. 

It’s over, death is inevitable. 

The merman pushed itself forward in the shallow water to get closer to Zong Yuan. A frigid bubble of air enveloped around him. The sensation of being stared at by a wild creature from a close distance made Zong Yuan’s hair stand on its ends. 

Because of the length of the merman’s tail, it was taller than Zong Yuan by a full head. It lowered its head, and its thick curly hair brushed past its shoulders and left a wet mark on Zong Yuan’s face. 

It retracted its vicious claws and sharp teeth, and used its most innocent appearance to look at this human. It let out another screech. 

Zong Yuan was forced to open his eyes.

He stared directly into the merman’s eyes. 

The merman’s face did not have any features of a fish. Zong Yuan let out a slight breath, and broke eye contact with it. 

He immediately understood a saying. 

When making eye contact with a wild animal, never ever be the first one to break eye contact. 

The merman extended out a hand that was covered with a thin transparent film and forcibly held his chin in place. It bent over with its head lowered and stuck out a cold and terrifying tongue. Inch by inch, it licked the human’s face. 

On his body, it left behind the scent of the ocean’s ruler.

The smell of the deep ocean became stronger. Zong Yuan felt like his body was at the bottom of the ocean right now. The touch of that smooth slick hand made him feel like he was being touched by a wet fish. 

His head was in immense pain. He viciously bit down on his own tongue, and he could taste his blood. At the same time, he fiercely swung his fist over to it. 

The merman was hit straight on by his punch, but it only was like an ant trying to shake a tree--- completely ineffective. 

It moved its nose and sniffed the smell of blood coming from Zong Yuan. As if it was angered, the ocean water turned turbulent and in the next second, Zong Yuan was violently dragged into the ocean. 

0046 screamed, “Ah ah ah!!!”

Zong Yuan's face was hurt by the fast-moving water. The merman's tail was moving, and its tail fin brushed his body from time to time.

Zong Yuan, "...". He wanted to throw up.

He couldn't breathe and wanted to struggle out of the merman’s grasp, but the merman was frighteningly powerful. The color of the surrounding water was so deep that he couldn't see any fish and shrimps. In this environment, Zong Yuan almost thought he had deep-sea phobia.

The merman stopped abruptly.

It turned around and hugged Zong Yuan. It forced his mouth open, and the seawater and its tongue slid into his mouth. It passed air into his mouth, and also sucked the blood that was on his tongue. 

This was the first time the merman stuck its tongue into the mouth of a human being, and the taste was addicting.

His lips were slightly swollen from being licked.

No matter how loud he yelled, the suit man continued forward and insisted to walk into the sea.

The merman grabbed his hand. its abyss-like pupil stared at him quietly. The bone in its tail came together and it wrapped itself around his body again. 

Zong Yuan was frozen stiff.

His blood boiling rage died down. The scales on the tail were hard enough to allow him to feel its dense texture through the material of his pants.

The merman obeyed its own heart. It stuck out the tip of its tongue again, and forced its way between his lips.

Zong Yuan had no strength to push it away.

The bad thing about the day was that he could clearly see its tail.

“！！！”

His companions who have returned to the shore were dumbfounded, "What---what happened?!"

Is the merman eating Zong Yuan, or is it kissing Zong Yuan?

The others hesitated and came over, "Zong Yuan, was that a merman?"

Zong Yuan sneered, "What do you think?"

A lady asked curiously, "it's so beautiful. Was it kissing you just now?"
